Teenager charged with murder of schoolboy
A teenager is due to appear in court this morning charged with the murder of a boy from east London who was attacked on his way home from school.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of killing Jude Akapa, 15, who died on Wednesday after he received a blow to the head while returning from St Joseph's Academy in Blackheath, south-east London.
The accused will appear at Camberwell Youth Court.
Jude, a victim of bullying, had left school at lunchtime and was found by his brother on the sofa at his home in North Woolwich, east London, at 5pm.
His brother thought he was asleep and it was not until his mother arrived at 7pm that the family realised he was seriously ill. He was taken unconscious to Newham General Hospital where he was pronounced dead just after 9pm.
A post mortem found the boy had died from head injuries.
