Emma Thompson won the best actress award for the second consecutive year at last night's London Evening Standard British Film Awards for her performances in The Remains of the Day and Much Ado About Nothing. David Thelwis won the best actor award for Naked, and Sir Anthony Hopkins received a special award for his contribution to the industry. Ken Loach's film Raining Stones won awards for best film and best screenplay.
