TrueStoryASA: YouTube stars given 'talking to' from police after frenzied meet and greet attracts hundreds

American duo, Adam Saleh and Sheikh Akbar, had arranged a meet and greet in Marble Arch to see their UK fans

Two American YouTube stars have been spoken to by police after they brought Marble Arch to standstill earlier today with a chaotic ‘meet and greet.’

Adam Saleh and Sheikh Akbar, also known as TrueStoryASA, were mobbed by hundreds of screaming and camera-clad fans after the pair had spent the last few weeks inviting their followers down to one corner of Hyde Park for 3pm today.

The boys, whose most popular video ‘Ferrari pick up prank’ has almost 11million views, had to be escorted from the vicinity by police after the situation became too frenetic.

Mr Saleh had tweeted a picture of himself in the back of a police car with the caption “London police arrested me! You guys are crazy! Please be safe! :(,” however officers say he had just been taken away for his own safety.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police told The Independent: “Police were called at approximately 15:50hrs today to Marble Arch following reports of a large gathering of people after an event was advertised on social media.

“Officers attended and found a 21-year-old man unable to leave the Palazzo area. He was escorted safely away by police and taken to a central London police station where he was offered advice regarding organising large-scale events.

“He was not arrested.”

Pictures on social media show a crowd on the western end of Oxford Street in the road, with people on the top deck of tour buses peering over the edge to see the commotion.

Disappointed fans took to Twitter to vent their anger at not being able to see their heroes.

One said: “Well that was a waste of time and energy.”

Another quipped: “They're not even there yet and there's already police, ambulances, riots watch these fools end up on the news for shutting down Hyde Park.”

The heartthrobs have a legion of female fans and hundreds of thousands of followers on social media. They were, however, surprised by the large turn out, which appeared to be completely unexpected.

The duo have a number of videos over the million-views mark including 'Make The Homeless Smile' and 'Meet a Muslim Person.'

After Saleh was plucked from the hectic melee, he tweeted that his followers should meet at a particular hotel in London later - a tweet which has since been deleted.
