Tube strike map: Which lines are still running?

Services are not due to return to normal until Friday morning

Ahead of the Tube strikes which started last night, Transport for London announced the services it planned to run during this week’s 48-hour walk-out.

This week’s strike started at 9.30pm yesterday, with services not returning to normal until Friday morning.

After failing to be averted by last-ditch talks, the daily commute threatens to turn into a nightmare for millions. One blogger, Ian Mansfield (@IanVisits), has even produced a handy, modified Tube map to show which Tube Lines will be affected (pictured above, which you can click to enlarge. People are advised to check the TfL website though).

The Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) and Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) have called strikes in response to the Government’s plans to revolutionise the London Underground's ticketing service, which will incorporate the shutting down of ticket offices and the loss of 950 jobs.

TFL have said there will be disruption to journeys today and Thursday, when Tube services will run from around 7am to 11pm. There will be travel ambassadors at stations helping with alternative routes, but all lines are expected to be much busier than usual.

These are the services that are expected to run:

Bakerloo line

No service.

Central line

No service will operate through the central area. Service operating between White City and West Ruislip / Ealing Broadway and between Holborn and Epping via Hainault and Woodford approximately every 10 minutes.

Circle line

No service.

Passengers are advised to check routes on the District line, Hammersmith & City line and Metropolitan line (below).

How the Tube strikes will affect your journey (and stress levels)

District line

Trains will run between Upminster and Wimbledon around every six minutes in both directions and between Ealing Broadway and High Street Kensington around every 15 minutes in both directions.

These trains will not stop at Aldgate East, Becontree, Blackfriars, Bromley-by-Bow, Dagenham East, Dagenham Heathway, East Ham, Elm Park, Gloucester Road, Hornchurch, Plaistow, Sloane Square, Stepney Green, Temple, Upminster Bridge, Upney or Upton Park stations.

Hammersmith and City line

Trains will run between Hammersmith and Moorgate around every ten minutes in both directions.

No service on the rest of the line.

Jubilee line

Trains will run between Stanmore and Finchley Road around every five minutes in both directions and between Waterloo and Stratford around every five minutes in both directions.

No service on the rest of the line.

Northern line

Trains will run over the whole line (except to Mill Hill East), with a train around every five minutes via both the Bank and Charing Cross branches in both directions. There are some delays reported.

These trains will not stop at Borough, Chalk Farm, Clapham North, Clapham South, Colliers Wood, Embankment, Goodge Street, Hampstead, Highgate, Leicester Square, Mornington Crescent, Old Street, Oval, South Wimbledon, Tooting Bec, Tufnell Park and Warren Street stations.

Piccadilly line

No service will operate through the central area. Trains will run between Acton Town and Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 around every ten minutes in both directions, and between Arnos Grove and Cockfosters around every ten minutes in both directions.

These trains will not stop at Heathrow Terminal 4 or Southgate stations.

Victoria line

Trains will run between Seven Sisters and Brixton around every five minutes in both directions.

These trains will not stop at Warren Street station.

Metropolitan line

Trains will run between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Aldgate every ten minutes or so in both directions. They will not stop at Barbican, Euston Square, Great Portland Street, Northwick Park and Preston Road stations.

Waterloo and City line

No service.

DLR

A normal service is currently operating.

London Overground

A normal service is currently operating but with some delays

London bus services will also operate, with over a hundred extra buses on key routes.
