Woman died after taking Ecstasy-type drug

A HAIRDRESSER died after taking a drug similar to Ecstasy for only the second time, an inquest was told yesterday.

Paula Carrier, 20, who suffered two cardiac arrests, is believed to be the first person to die after taking Eve, the latest rave scene amphetamine. Manchester coroner's court was told that Ms Carrier took Eve during a night out to celebrate a birthday with her friends Lisa Talbot and Amanda Smith. Ms Talbot, a former workmate of Ms Carrier's, told the inquest that she had supplied the drug. Both Ms Carrier, of Marple, Cheshire, and Ms Talbot had tried the drug once before without suffering any adverse reactions.

Leonard Gorodkin, the coroner, recorded a verdict of misadventure.
