A MOTORIST was fined pounds 15 for displaying a car parking ticket upside down.

Robert Walls, a lecturer, stuck the 40p ticket onto the passenger side window at Beverley in East Yorkshire. He returned to his car well inside the time limit to find a notice slapped on the windscreen.

The notice told him he had fallen foul of the Road Traffic Regulation Act by "parking in a manner to contravene the order namely - ticket displayed upside down".
