A man who tried to accuse police of brutality after he was brought in for questioning has been caught on film punching himself in the face.

Investigators in Lane County, Oregon, said 33-year-old Aleksander Robin Tomaszewski signed an assault complaint against detectives after he was arrested in January for unrelated charges.

Unfortunately for him, a video recorder was running in a holding room where he had been left after questioning.

Footage sees Tomaszewski pacing around the room, punching himself in both eyes. He then sits down and continues to hit himself in the face.

A Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said that after he was confronted about the recording he told detectives that he thought the complaint would get him released.

Instead he was subsequently found guilty of initiating a false report and attempted coercion, which earned him a $500 (£324) fine and 20 days in jail.
