The jockey, Willie Carson, has left North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke, less than a fortnight after he almost died in an accident at Newbury race course.

Mr Myrddin Rees, consultant surgeon, said: "Mr Carson has made excellent progress and is well enough to leave hospital. He will be kept under review." Carson was kicked by his intended mount, Meshhed, in the paddock.
