President Robert Mugabe and Arthur Mutambara, Zimbabwe's breakaway opposition leader, have signed a power-sharing deal, ruling Zanu-PF officials claimed.

But last night, no official confirmation was made and sources close to Mr Mutambara denied a deal had been struck. Such a deal would sideline Morgan Tsvangirai, leader of the main opposition, the Movement for Democratic Change.
