People from all across the world have been celebrating the 95th birthday of former South African President Nelson Mandela.

Today also marks Mandela Day which calls on individuals to dedicate 67 minutes to charity work to symbolise the 67 years Mandela spent fighting for human rights in South Africa.

People in Johannesburg have been donating food and clothing to the poor while in Bangalore, India, barbers have been giving hair cuts to beggars.

School children in Soweto have been singing happy birthday to Mandela from outside the Medi Clinic Heart Hospital, where is being treated for a long-standing lung infection. South African President Joseph Zuma says that Mandela's condition is stable but improving.
