Mediators fly in to Guinea-Bissau after military coup

West African regional mediators headed to Guinea-Bissau for talks yesterday following last week's coup.

The military leaders who seized power in the tiny former Portuguese colony last week said they were forming a transitional government. This would include some opposition parties, but not the ruling party.

Kadre Desire Ouedraogo, president of the Economic Community of West African States, was to lead the meeting. AP
