Results reveal Kabila as victor

Two months after voters went to polls in an election that observers said were too flawed to be legitimate, Congo's electoral commission announced yesterday that parties supporting the country's president Joseph Kabila won two-thirds of legislative seats.

It also indefinitely delayed provincial polls scheduled for March.

Officials said they also want to annul results of the legislative polls in seven of Congo's 169 voting districts and prosecute a dozen candidates accused of introducing irregularities and violence.
