South Africa's secretive Broederbond, an organisation of Afrikaner men wielding strong influence in government, looks likely to disband this year, Reuter reports.

The Afrikaans-language Beeld said the Broederbond (League of Brothers) would 'probably disappear in its present form by the end of the year'. The group might be replaced by a cultural organisation, the paper said.
