Arrests over Travolta extortion plot

By Ian Johnston

Two people have been arrested in the Bahamas over an alleged plot to extort money from the actor John Travolta, whose son Jett collapsed and died while on holiday in the islands.

Police said Tarino Lightbourne, an ambulance driver quoted in newspapers talking about efforts to revive the 16-year-old, was detained yesterday. Senator Pleasant Bridgewater was held on Thursday.

Jett died of a seizure on 2 January at the family's holiday home on Grand Bahama island. Authorities did not give any details of the alleged plot but reports suggested it centred on a request for "millions of dollars" to stop the release of a photograph taken of Jett about the time he died.

Lawyers for the Travolta family said: "Regrettably, in a time of such terrible grief, there are often a few individuals who attempt to make false claims in hopes of making millions of dollars. We will never let that happen."

Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Marvin Dames, said Lightbourne was detained after police issued an alert that he was wanted for attempted extortion and was "considered dangerous".

Jett's parents, both Scientologists, said Jett had Kawasaki Disease, which causes inflammation of the arteries. It is rarely fatal and usually does not affect children aged over eight. They also believed chemicals in commercial cleaning fluids had affected him.

However it was also claimed that Jett exhibited signs of autism, a condition which the Church of Scientology does not recognise.

An ambulance driver tells what he says is the truth about what he saw regarding Jett Travolta. This story doesn't back up the ones from the Travolta family or lawyers, and there have been several: He was last seen going in the bathroom the night before/He had just been missed. Jett fell down in the tub, possibly the cause of death/Coroner reported no head wound. Jett had Kawasaki Syndrome/Coroner reported Jett died from a seizure (something the KS doesn't sport, but autism does). He was dead for some time before being found/John Travolta held him in his arms as he died. John Travolta was reported not being there at the time/Travolta gave him CPR (or mouth-to-mouth depending on the story) to try to revive him.

The conflicting stories have already been flying around the mediaverse for some time, only added to by the ambulance driver's. The Travoltas, being Scientologists, refuse to admit the existence of autism, let alone that of their son. Suddenly there's an announcement of an extortion plot, and the ambulance driver is arrested for alleging to have a photograph that nobody's reported seeing.

Scientology policy is to destroy anyone who threatens the Church or its myriad of shore stories, by defaming and otherwise causing them to be a "Dead Agent". The policy used to be called "Fair Game" but policy was changed to say that the term would no longer be used. This of course does not mean that the Policy Formerly Known As Fair Game has been discontinued.

The possibility is very good that this man is being attemptedly destroyed by the Scientology cult, on the off chance that his already-made public statements (which include the dreaded 'autism' word) will be eventually disregarded as statements from a 'criminal' or 'extortionist', as opposed to the truth, which they very well may be. Hopefully someone outside the payroll of the Scientology cult will be able to shed more light on the actual facts of the case.
