New dating site launched for those opposed to Donald Trump

A new dating website is offering opponents of Donald Trump a "safe space" to find love with fellow liberals.

NeverTrump.dating claims it will allow people to "skip the awkward political conversations" when they first meet a potential match.

It was set up last month by the American Liberal Council (ALC) in response to a rival site for supporters of the US President.

The pro-Trump site ran into controversy after it used a photo of a convicted child sex offender wearing a Trump baseball cap on its homepage.

It also restricted users to registering as straight men or straight women.

The new anti-Trump site says it is open to everyone regardless of sexual orientation, race or creed and aims to "make the world a better place, two liberals at a time."

Users can register as gay, lesbian or straight but there is no transgender option.

The new site sparked jokes from Twitter users that Trump supporters had been secretly registering on the site and that "Bill Clinton Can't wait to sign up".

Another vowed: "I'd rather die single than date a Trumper!"

The ALC posted details of the new site on Facebook and invited its 26,000 followers to "TAG your single, anti-Trump friends".

"Our Democracy can still be saved. But first, we must find those with like minded beliefs, and join those who stand for tolerance and justice for all," said ALC founder Ted Brown.

"We need allies who will never back down to the corrupt, morally-bankrupt administration in power, and we can do that right here. Skip the awkward political conversations, and know where your future love stands from the get-go, liberty and equality are making a comeback."
