Film-makers 'knew details on Bin Laden raid'

An investigation is under way into claims made by a Republican Senator in America that classified information about the killing of Osama Bin Laden was passed to a film-maker working on a project telling the story of the raid by US armed forces last year.

The claims, made by Senator Peter King – a supporter of the IRA who has spoken out against Muslims in the US – relate to a film by director Kathryn Bigelow, which is set for a 2012 release.

Senator King is worried that the film-makers and studio Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. may have had access to classified material on the May 2011 Navy Seals raid. His claim is being looked at by the Defense Department, and the CIA is reportedly changing its procedures for working on similar projects in the future.

Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal were understood to be working on the film before the raid, although it is not known what information they obtained.
