Hate crime: Attacker allegedly said ‘I’m going to kill you, white boy’ before slashing man’s throat
Man was walking in New York City borough of Queens when he allegedly was attacked
A 24-year-old man in New York City had his throat slashed last week while walking with his girlfriend and the victim told police that his attacker yelled “I’m going to kill you, white boy” before the stabbing.
New York police are calling it a hate crime and continue to search for the attacker, according to the New York Daily News.
The victim was walking in the Ridgewood neighbourhood at about 2:20 on Thursday morning when the alleged attacker approached him and uttered the threat in Spanish. But the man who was cut evidently understands the language and was able to repeat the threat to authorities.
Police describe the suspect as being between 25 and 30 years old, standing about 5-foot 8-inches (172 cm) with a medium build.
A grainy video shows the lead up to the attack, with the two men arguing before the suspect slashed the victim from his ear to halfway across his throat. The victim was forced to get dozens of stitches but has since been released from the hospital.
