Imagine there's no fracking… Yoko Ono joins tour against controversial extraction technique
Thursday 17 January 2013
Celebrities including Yoko Ono, her son Sean Lennon and actress Susan Sarandon were in Pennsylvania today for an “anti-fracking” tour.
Members of “Artists Against Fracking” were taking a look at areas where the extraction of natural gas by hydraulic fracturing is carried out.
“Not everyone knows how dangerous it is. Your drinking water is at stake. Over 600 toxic chemicals and hydrocarbons get injected into the ground that leak into aquifers,” said Lennon. “Then there’s the question of [them] being released into the atmosphere.”
