Lenny Kravitz may be a wealthy world-famous four-time Grammy Award winner. This does not, however, grant immunity from dealing with the tedium of over-flowing toilets.

Yesterday, a lawsuit was filed against Mr Kravitz seeking $333,850 (£182,000) amid claims that he let his toilet overflow into his neighbour's apartment. The flood in the singer's luxury Manhattan condominium, allegedly caused "catastrophic water damage" to the flat below in August this year.

The insurance company claims that Mr Kravitz's toilet "became blocked, clogged and congested with various materials" and the ensuing flooding was due to his "negligence and carelessness".

The apartment is in New York's SoHo district and is also home to his fellow rock star Courtney Love. The duplex, which he bought four years ago for $8m reportedly has five bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

The singer could not be reached for comment.
