Three x-rays of the late Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe's chest and pelvis, which were taken during a hospital visit, have sold for $45,000 (£30,000) – more than 10 times the pre-sale estimates.
Las Vegas auction house Julien's said the event was part of a sale of Hollywood Legends memorabilia held over the weekend, with the X-rays expected to go for $800 to $1,200 each.
The X-rays came from a visit by the actress to Hollywood's Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in 1954 . Monroe died in August 1962 at the age of 36.
Other items sold included a chair from Monroe's last photo shoot that went for $35,000, Christopher Reeves' Superman IV costume, which raised $32,500 and a dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face which sold for $56,250.
