A teacher who molested a 15-year-old boy was arrested a second time for assaulting another teenage student, police said.

Shawnetta D Reece, 40, had sex with the 18-year-old while the pair were in a relationship, officers said. Even though he was not a minor it was illegal because he was in her care.

Police learned about the assault while investigating Reece for allegedly having sex with the 15-year-old boy in 2013 when she was a gym teacher at Union County Middle School in Blairsville, Georgia.

She was charged with child molestation, arrested again and charged with a separate count of assault.

Convictions for similar offences in Georgia have resulted in sentences of 25 years in prison without parole.

Officers are still investigating the former track coach for any further alleged misconduct.

A statement by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation regarding the 15-year-old read: “The student was moving from the 8th grade into the 9th grade during the time."

It added that she was charged with child molestation and sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority.

She was again arrested at her home for having relations with the 18-year-old and charged with sexual assault on the same grounds, the statement also said.

“The student was a high school senior at the time of the incident,” it added.

Police have forwarded the second case to Enotah Judicial Circuit District Attorney prosecutors.

Investigators did not reveal whether Reece was given bail or held in custody on remand.
