Two die after fire in polar research station

Two people are believed to have died in a fire in Antarctica yesterday, after an accident in a remote research station.

The blaze took place at Brazil's Comandante Ferraz station, and spread rapidly from the station's energy generators. One other person was injured.

The surviving 44 people at the site were airlifted to a station run by Chile.
