The Catholic Arch Bishop-elect of San Francisco has apologised for drunk driving.

Salvatore Cordileone said he was driving home from a dinner with friends when he was pulled over.

"I apologise for my error in judgement and feel shame for the disgrace I have brought upon the Church and myself," he said. "I pray that God… will bring some good out of this."
