US Election Diary: Dunham, the agent of Satan, bites back

The modish writer/actress Lena Dunham's recent pro-Obama campaign advert, which likened voting to losing your virginity ("your first time shouldn't be with a conservative"), was respectfully ignored by the right-wingers. Only joking! They went bananas, calling her, among other things a "vile pervert" and an agent of "Satan". Dunham has responded via Twitter: "It tickles me to no end that while my Twitter feed was blowing up with conservative hate, I was literally hanging out in a pile of bisexuals." That's them told.

US Election Diary: Romney's campaign gets a face lift

Mitt Romney has already lifted one American out of poverty. Eric Hartsburg, from Indiana, recently used eBay to sell "tattooing rights" to his face. A wealthy Republican paid $15,000 (£9,300) for Mr Romney's campaign logo to be inked on his right temple. "I don't mind," the (Romney-supporting) Mr Hartsburg told reporters. "It's something I believe in." Let's hope he feels the same way in 20 years.

US Election Diary: A political debate of epic proportions

If you thought the White House was the biggest thing at stake in November's election, think again: the Grand Canyon is up for grabs. A measure placed on the 6 November ballot by the Arizona Legislature would see the state declare sovereignty over the natural wonder, currently managed by federal administrators. The question is whether Americans should trust Arizonans with such a precious bounty. Remember: these are the people who auctioned off their State Capitol in 2009.
