Trump's press secretary Kayleigh McEnany to head to Fox News

Fox News issued a statement saying Ms McEnany is not currently employed by the network

Former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany spent her time as the president's mouthpiece, spinning his words, attacking his enemies, and attempting to undermine the credibility of reporters.  

Now, with her days at the White House behind her, Ms McEnany will step into a new role where she can once again use the skill set she cultivated during her time with the president; it appears she'll be joining Fox News.  

Government watchdog organisation CREW obtained a financial disclosure report that showed Ms McEnany and Fox News entered into an employment agreement on 1 January. According to the report, she is to begin work in January.  

Ms McEnany appeared frequently on Fox News in the past. Prior to her time in the White House, Ms McEnany was the spokesperson for the Republican National Committee and often appeared as a guest commentator on the conservative news channel. She also worked for the network between 2008 and 2015 as a production assistant on the network's "Huckabee" show, which featured Arkansas Governor and former presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee.

Fox News issued a statement to The Hill claiming that Ms McEnany "is not currently an employee or contributor" to the at the network. Her employment agreement does not specify when in January she was expected to begin work.  

A source close to the matter told The Hill that the negotiations between Fox News and Ms McEnany have been put on pause. No further details on the nature of Ms McEnany's relationship with Fox News were provided.  

Yashar Ali, a reporter for New York Magazine and HuffPost, claimed that David Limbaugh, the younger brother of famed conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, was negotiating Ms McEnany's deal at Fox News.  

According to Mr Ali's source, Mr Limbaugh also negotiates Sean Hannity's deals.  

The source also told Mr Ali that even though Ms McEnany's employment at the network is on hold, she may still get the job because the network does not "condone cancel culture".  

If Ms McEnany does lose the job opportunity due to her very public role as whitewasher for the actions of the Trump administration, she will find herself with plenty of company.  

According to a recent Politico report, numerous Trump staffers have found themselves struggling to find work due to their association with the former president.  

“They are really f*****,” a strategist speaking to the publication said.  

According to the strategist, several Trump administration aides waited until the very end of Mr Trump's term before they began looking for work, and now find themselves persona non grata. Even those staffers hoping to hitch their horse to another Republican lawmaker may have missed their opportunity.  

“The Hill scramble, one of the few places where they’d be welcomed, already happened a month or so ago," the strategist said. "They were told over and over to take their hand off the hot stove, and they didn’t want to listen.”

Fox News has provided a safe landing spot for some members of the Trump administration, such as former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Ms Sanders is no longer with the network.
