'You gotta take this job seriously, this is the future of this nation': US high school student ranting about education caught on film
Friday 10 May 2013
A student in Texas has been caught on camera ranting about the standards of teaching at his school.
Jeff Bliss, who is a pupil at Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas was filmed on a mobile by a fellow student as he walked out of a classroom.
Bliss can be heard telling to his history teacher: "If you would just get up and teach 'em instead of handing them a package. There's kids in here that don't learn like that, they need to learn face to face."
He goes on to say: "You want a kid to come in here and do better, you gotta touch his heart. You can't expect a kid to change if all you do is tell him. You gotta take this job seriously, this is the future of this nation."
It is not known what caused Bliss to get sent out of the room by his teacher but the video has gone viral with over a million views on YouTube.
Bliss is not the only one making waves on the Internet with his strong opinions on education, British spoken word poet Suli Breaks has been challenging the education system through his video "I Will Not Let An Exam Result Decide My Fate", in which the rapper questions whether the subjects taught in schools will actually be useful later on in life.
