Argentine deal
Argentina said Britain had agreed to negotiate a 'co- ordinated conservation' of South Atlantic fishing waters, AFP reports from Buenos Aires. This followed a row over Britain's plan to extend its fishing zone off South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands from 12 to 200 miles.
President Carlos Menem said that 'for the first time Argentina will be present everywhere in the South Atlantic' working with Britain on conservation in and around the Falklands Islands.
