Arrests at Angola rally
LISBON (Reuter) - Four men, including a nephew of the Unita leader, Jonas Savimbi, were arrested yesterday for planning to assassinate a senior member of Angola's ruling party, the Portuguese news agency Lusa reported from Luanda.
Lusa, quoting Angolan national radio, said police caught the men with two rifles and a pistol 200 yards from where Daniel Chipenda was a addressing a political rally in the north-western Angolan city of Saurimo. No shots were fired.
Mr Chipenda is heading the ruling Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA)campaign for the country's first free elections at the end of September.
