A court has thrown out a case against a British theatre producer who staged a pro-gay play.
David Cecil was arrested in September after staging The River and the Mountain by Beau Hopkins at two theatres in Kampala without authorisation from the Uganda Media Council.
Mr Cecil was charged with “disobeying lawful orders” and faced up to two years in jail if convicted.
The case was thrown out after the prosecution told the magistrate that police had not yet given them a case file. Mr Cecil told the BBC that the case was dismissed for a “lack of will or a lack of evidence” to try him.
