Two gunmen on a motorcycle shot two tourists today near one of India's biggest mosques, police said.
The gunmen randomly opened fire near the Jama Masjid, hitting tourists who were in a bus parked near the mosque, police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said.
The 17th century mosque is a popular tourist destination in the heart of the city.
The two tourists were taken to hospital and their condition was stable, Mr Bhagat said.
The shooting raises concerns about security in New Delhi as the Indian capital gears up to host the Commonwealth Games in two weeks.
Around 71 teams from around the world are participating in the Games scheduled for October 3-14.
The nationalities of the injured men was not known immediately, Mr Bhagat said.
Police have launched a massive search for the two gunmen who fled.
The area around the mosque was cordoned off and police were scouring the densely populated alleys around it.
