Pakistan has made its first public appeal for the Taliban to participate in peace talks with the Afghan government.
The Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani, said Pakistan was "prepared to do whatever it takes" to help the reconciliation process. The appeal comes after the Afghan President, Hamid Karzai, held talks with Pakistan's civilian and military leaders.
