Forget about frying eggs on pavements, one man in Australia has made a time lapse video of a chocolate ball melting in under three minutes to show just how hot the weather is getting Down Under.
Graphic designer Evan Stainsby photographed the Lindt ball melting into a sticky, gooey puddle of chocolate in Melbourne on Wednesday as temperatures hit 42 Centigrade.
To make things even more interesting, Mr Stainsby used time lapse to illustrate how quickly the chocolate dissolved before he uploaded it to video sharing site Vimeo.
Clearly, the chocolate didn't stand a chance and rapidly dissolved in exactly two minutes and 58 seconds as a handy timer in the right-hand corner shows.
While this is the lighter side of the heatwave, the extreme weather had been causing disruption with dozens of bushfires and power cuts, even play at the Australian Open was temporarily halted due to the soaring temperatures.
