SAO PAULO - Brazil's presidential candidate Fernando Henrique Cardoso replaced his running-mate to head off influence-peddling charges in an election where voters say they will spurn candidates tainted by corruption.

The vice-presidential candidate, Guilherme Palmeira, accused of helping a construction company in his home state win government contracts, was replaced by the veteran senator Marco Maciel. Reuter
