California earthquake alert
SAN FRANCISCO - The US Geological Survey issued a full earthquake alert for a sparsely populated area of central California yesterday after a moderate tremor, Reuter reports. The Geological Survey issued a Level A alert for the small town of Parkfield after 25 to 30 small tremors hit the area over the weekend, culminating in a earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale which struck at 4:25am (1225 GMT). There were no injuries or damage in the town 200 miles south of San Francisco.
