Canada to keep doors open

HONG KONG - Canada will keep its doors open to Hong Kong immigrants even if the British colony's 1997 transition to Chinese rule triggers an exodus, Canadian Foreign Minister Andre Ouellet said yesterday. 'We will continue to have a very open immigration policy that will accept a number of applications from here,' he said. AP
