Cartel military chief surrenders

The new military chief of cocaine baron Pablo Escobar's cartel surrendered to Colombian authorities following the killing of another cartel member's brother, police said yesterday, Reuter reports from Bogota. Police said Gustavo Adolfo Gutierrez, who had recently taken charge of hired killings and bombings for the cartel, turned himself in late on Saturday in Medellin.
