Legislators voted in favour yesterday of interim financing for Hong Kong's dollars 20.2bn (pounds 13.7bn) airport, defying Chinese warnings against going it alone, AP reports from Hong Kong. The vote followed disclosures by Sir Hamish Macleod, Hong Kong's Financial Secretary, that the government offered to inject extra cash from its reserves as part of an overall financing proposal to China for the airport.
