The Prime Minister, Li Peng, opened China's first big nuclear power station yesterday, deaf to protests in Hong Kong, 20 miles away, where, despite official denials, fears persist of a Chernobyl-style disaster, Reuter reports from Hong Kong. Mr Li inaugurated the first of two reactors at the French-designed Daya Bay plant a year behind schedule.
