Chretien sworn in
Jean Chretien became Canada's 20th prime minister yesterday, returning his Liberal Party to office after nine years of Conservative rule, Reuter reports from Ottawa. Mr Chretien appointed Andre Ouellet as Foreign Minister in a cabinet that included four women. Mr Chretien won last week's election by a landslide on promises to revive Canada's sluggish economy.
