De Klerk 'will disband' controversial army units
Johannesburg (Reuter) - President F W de Klerk said yesterday, on the eve of a UN Security Council meeting on South Africa, he would disband a controversial army unit accused by blacks of fomenting township violence. Mr de Klerk said 32 Battalion, a white- led unit of black soldiers mainly from Angola, would be withdrawn from all black townships by today.
