Egypt police kill five
Police killed five Muslim extremists, including a leader of the main Islamic radical group, in two raids yesterday, AP reports from Cairo. Talaat Yassin Hamam, a top figure in el- Gamaat el-Islamiya (the Islamic Group) was gunned down in an exchange of fire with police who raided his Cairo hideout. In Assiut, four other suspected members of the Islamic Group were killed when police raided their hideout in a cemetery.
