People who were infected with HIV during blood transfusions will be paid damages starting next month, the Health Minister, Horst Seehofer, announced, AFP reports from Bonn.

Mr Seehofer said those who had not yet developed full-blown Aids would receive 1,000 marks (pounds 400) each for every month since they received the contaminated blood, while those with Aids would be given 2,000 marks per month each.
