ROME (Reuter) - The Italian government approved a pounds 32m package to renovate facilities and increase security and staff on two prison islands holding hundreds of Mafia gangsters. The cabinet approved the funds two days after 100 mafiosi were taken to Asinara, off the coast of Sardinia. The government has also sent hundreds of gangsters to the prison island of Pianosa, off Tuscany.
