Black pupils storm schools

Cape Town - A tourist was stabbed as 10,000 black children flooded into Cape Town to demand places in schools formerly reserved for whites. Youths looted stalls and assaulted passers-by.

Whites in the working class suburb of Ruyterwacht said they would not let black pupils use an empty school. AFP
