Gunmen loyal to Bosnia's President, Alija Izetbegovic, stormed a radio station and shot dead a policeman inside while trying to suppress rebellious fellow Muslims yeserday, Reuter reports from Velika Kladusa, Bosnia.

It was the first confirmed death in disturbances in the Bihac area since anti-Izetbegovic Muslims declared independence in the north-western enclave bordering Croatia last week, provoking intervention by government troops. The breakaway led to the first intra-Muslim conflict in Bosnia after 18 months of civil war in which Serbs and Croats have seized 85 per cent of the former Yugoslav republic. The assault occurred soon after dissident Muslims opened fire on a convoy of Izetbegovic backers.
