VITEZ - The Bosnian Serbs yesterday refused to allow a troop of British light tanks through to form part of the multinational force being assembled to reconnoitre Gorazde because they were too heavily armed, writes Christopher Bellamy.

'They don't like the tracks, they don't like the Rarden' - the 30mm gun which rips armoured personnel carriers apart at 1,500 metres - an officer from the Light Dragoons explained to his bewildered men.

Last night, the Duke of Wellington's regiment sent Saxon armoured personnel carriers to join the 150-strong company heading for Gorazde from Sarajevo, instead of Scimitar tanks and their Sultan command vehicle.
