Clinton pushes for Syria deal
President Bill Clinton assured the Syrian Foreign Minister, Farouk Sharaa, he wanted to see Israel conclude settlements with all its Arab neighbours, AP reports from Washington. Mr Sharaa, the highest-ranked Syrian official to hold talks with the US in nearly 20 years, called for an overall settlement and accused Israel of stalling after concluding an agreement with the PLO.
