Emigre kidnap case

Six Russians appeared before a Berlin court yesterday charged with kidnapping Russian emigres and demanding ransoms of 1m German marks (pounds 395,000) for their release, Reuter reports from Berlin. Prosecutors said the defendants, aged between 29 and 60, were acting for a Moscow-based crime syndicate.
