From five star luxury to being hidden from view by a piece of linen: the fall from grace for some Fifa executives was brutal and swift.

Several high-ranking Fifa officials have been arrested in Switzerland on corruption charges and face extradition to the US following a dawn raid at the Baur au Lac hotel in Zurich.

Plain-clothed Swiss policemen visited the hotel in the early hours of May 27 and asked for the keys to several rooms. They then led the Fifa executives out of the building into unmarked cars.

Video of the arrests shows doormen at the Baur au Lac hotel holding up white sheets to obscure the view of the arrested individuals from the awaiting cameras.

Swiss prosecutors have also launched a criminal case into the bids for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, awarded to Russia and Qatar respectively.
