Germany is considering issuing an arrest warrant for Bishop Richard Williamson over his controversial claim that no Jews died in the gas chambers during the Second World War.
The 69-year-old British-born bishop made the comments during an interview with Swedish television last year at a seminary for the ultra-orthodox Society of Saint Pius X in the Bavarian village of Zaitzkoven, near Munich.
Under German law denial of the Holocaust is illegal and an investigation was launched by prosecutors after the interview was broadcast last month.
Germany's Justice Minister, Brigitte Zypries, confirmed yesterday that officials were considering issuing a European Union-wide arrest warrant for Dr Williamson, who flew into Britain earlier this week after being expelled from the Argentine seminary where he had been living for much of the past five years.
Mrs Zypries said that if an arrest warrant is issued, Britain would be obligated to arrest the renegade cleric and extradite him to Germany under a European set of guidelines introduced last year to toughen up anti-racism and hate crime laws. Although Britain has no specific laws against denying genocides, in Germany Holocaust denial is punishable with up to three years in prison and because the comments were made in Germany, Dr Williamson may be liable for prosecution.
The news of the arrest warrant came as the controversial bishop's attempted rehabilitation into the Catholic Church took a tumble when the Vatican rejected an apology he made earlier this week. After weeks of refusing an order from Rome to repent his Holocaust denial views "in an absolutely unequivocal and public way", he made a carefully worded apology on Thursday evening on the SSPX website.
In the statement, the bishop said his views on the Holocaust were that of a "non-historian ... formed 20 years ago on the basis of evidence then available, and rarely expressed in public since".
He added: "To all souls that took honest scandal from what I said, before God I apologise."
The Vatican's chief spokesperson, Father Frederico Lombardi, said Dr Williamson's apology "does not seem to respect the conditions" for his re-admission to the church.
Jewish and Holocaust-remembrance groups also rejected the apology saying Dr Williamson had failed to fully renounce his belief that the Holocaust has been exaggerated by historians. Rabbi Marvin Hier, the founder and dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, said: "The one thing he doesn't say, and the main thing, is that the Holocaust occurred ... You want to make an apology, you have to affirm the Holocaust."
Karen Pollack, the chief executive of The Holocaust Educational Trust, also criticised the apology: "You don't need to be a historian to recognise one of the most defining episodes of the 20th century, where millions of Jews and others were brutally murdered by the Nazis. Williamson may have acknowledged the offence he has caused but the fact remains that he denied the Holocaust – even questioning the existence of gas chambers only a month ago. Holocaust denial is anti-Semitism under whatever guise."
Although the bishop belongs to a breakway Catholic sect that is not in full communion with the Catholic Church, the Vatican has been deeply embarrassed by Williamson's views because it lifted an excommunication order on the SSPX just days after his Holocaust denial interview was broadcast.

I had always believed the figures quoted of six million dead without even thinking about it but I now remember years ago seeing a map of israel from 1945 with hardly a jewish village of over 2,000 people on it but after 1948 the map was covered with jewish villages of that size and hardly a palestinian village left, ........ where did all these millions of people come from in the new israel if everyone was dead? I guess no-one has seen the wood for the trees, ..... until now.

I spent three months in Bishop Williamson’s Winona seminary in 1989. I can testify not only that Bishop Williamson was anti-Semitic but that the man is a lunatic. At a solemn Pontifical Mass when I was there, the bishop said that and I quote: “the best thing you can do to a liberal is to stick a knife in him.” When he made these remarks, he stuck his hand out as if he was stabbing someone. His reference to a liberal was probably directed more at theological liberals rather than political liberals but it was ridiculous nonetheless. He asserted in a class his lies about only a few hundred thousand Jews allegedly being gassed and once drew a picture of a man with a “big Jewish nose”(a direct quote). Most of the men at the seminary were easy prey for his ideas as they had little exposure to theology or philosophy except the kind they taught there which needed updating badly. It took me years of re-education and psychotherapy to be deprogrammed from this nonsense. I salute the Holy Father for trying to heal a schism but it must be said that however many adherents to this movement, it represents a lunatic fringe. I would suggest requiring all of their priests to be re-educated in the ways of Vatican II and to submit to a psychological examination in order to be considered fit for the priesthood. For Bishop Williamson, perhaps he should receive the same penalty as Marcel Macial, a life of prayer and penance in a monastery in addition to a thorough psychiatric evaluation. This movement must be reconciled on the Church’s terms, not theirs. I dare say the last thing the Vatican needs is to be the laughing stock of the Christian world. A more complete examination of this movement is needed if true reconciliation is ever possible. I am truly sorry for ever having anything to do with this lunacy.

However this cleric's attempt to deny the documented historical reality of the industrial mass murder of millions (one third of global Jews) in fewer than six years is racial discrimination and hatred. Before you Jew haters jump in and scream Gaza, you should take a look at the population growth in Gaza under what you call the Israeli occupation. If this is the case, then you must also call for the prosecution of the journalist who questioned Bishop Williamson for encouraging him to speak about the Holocaust, for recording the conversation and for delivering the film to his TV company, and also for the prosecution of the TV company for broadcasting it. To be consistent, you must call for prosecution of anybody who repeats the Bishop's words, even in the process of criticizing them. Anything less is an open invitation for Nazi apologists and Jedeophobes to"reduce the Holocaust" by proxy, as in saying: "Of course I don't agree with him but Bishop W does say blah, blah, blah..."
It is a crime to enter court and lie to a jury about a criminal in an attempt to prevent him or her being convicted. It is called an attempt to pervert the course of justice. The same logic applies to holocaust denial. It is a crime to attempt to hide or mitigate a crime in civilised society.
Further; imagine your mother and grandmother had been stripped naked in front of the men of your family then raped, then forced into a gas chamber and gassed to death with your cousins and family (including infants to young to even walk); all terrified and screaming. Then imagine this happening to your entire city: Are you so devoid of human compassion that you would protect the people who did this from guilt and historical judgement? There is a reason the Germans have made Holocaust denial illegal. Even a simple minded person should understand their decision, in light of the fact that it is illegal to use the colour to describe or denigrate Africans under EU law. The consequence of not making Holocaust denial illegal can be seen from the efforts made my revisionist Islamic immigrants into Britain who have managed to get lessons on the history of the Holocaust removed from the teaching syllabus for children in some parts of the UK. The Holocaust has been removed as the Muslims claim it is an insult to their beliefs! Then in consequence you have countries like Iran holding conferences to deny the holocaust while at the same time they hold public competitions to make Judeophobic cartoons. Finally the Iranians have called for the mass genocide of all Jews in Israel: This is a single causality, which you simply fail to grasp. However Jewish you claim to be, it does not seem to be enough to understand the gravity of Holocaust denial to actual Jews. The gas chambers were people tight and air tight enough for the extremely poisonous gas that emanated from the crystals after their reaction with air would be killed within minutes. The reason there was no special protective clothing for those who transported the dead bodies, to be processed for hair, to stuff pillows, and for tooth filling removal, to smelt for gold bars, was that they were Jewish concentration camp inmates also destined for mass murder: The Nazis did not care about their safety. The victims had already been stripped of their clothes and belongings as they were told they would be showered for disinfections, as the majority had endured days in cattle wagons on train transports where many died.

1. As I still went to school, I was transported to the concentration camp in Dachau to see the shower rooms which were said to be gas chambers. For about 25 years, all people visiting Dachau were told this. Now, after some research, it is generally admitted that there have never been gas chambers in Dachau, although these had been witnessed under false oath by some Americans and Czechs.
2. People visiting the concentration camp in Auschwitz have been shown an air-raid shelter that was rebuilt to a gas chamber. But people got told that this be an original gas chamber. Many decades later it was admitted that this was only a reproduction of a gas chamber.
Up to now no single original gas chamber could be found.

in the past i always believed in the official holocaust/WW2 story, and shed my share of tears watching holywood H movies, in recent years however, i have been reaserching untold world history of the past 150 years, and it looks like there is a lot of historical facts left out on purpose, which has created a lot of dought about the official story, as if only WW2 existed.
one has to go back starting with russia's communist revolutions and their holocaust, then WW1 and what was done to germany,

I'm no Catholic, but if my Sunday school lessons are correct I then I'm pretty sure that the "central" teaching in all of Christianity is the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus the Christ.
